GB Food Group Consulting was founded on a simple conviction: the best advice comes from people who have lived the challenges they're helping others solve. Our founders spent decades working inside food companies — leading operations, navigating regulatory environments, building brands, and managing supply chains through every kind of disruption.
We started GB Food Group Consulting because we saw a gap in the market. Too many consulting firms offered generic frameworks applied to food businesses by generalists. We built something different — a firm staffed entirely by food industry veterans, focused exclusively on the food value chain, and committed to delivering recommendations that are actually executable.
Today, we work with food companies of all sizes — from emerging brands finding their footing to established manufacturers navigating complex regulatory and competitive landscapes. Our mission has never changed: help food businesses grow, operate better, and stay safe.

Walter C. Gunter
Principal Food Safety Consultant & Founder
Walter is a food safety authority and operations consultant with over 12 years of hands-on commercial manufacturing experience. Having grown up in the food industry, Walter bridges the gap between complex regulatory requirements and practical, high-efficiency plant operations. Through GB Food Group Consulting, he helps food brands and processing facilities design, implement, and maintain audit-ready quality management systems. Serving as Director of Food Safety in a dual USDA- and FDA-inspected facility, Walter brings field-tested expertise in regulatory navigation, plant setup, and high-level compliance. As a designated SQF Practitioner, he has achieved audit scores consistently in the 95th percentile and above. His technical credentials include: PCQI Certification for Human Food, HACCP Certification from NC State University, and Seafood HACCP Certification from Auburn University. Walter partners with manufacturers to protect their brands, pass critical audits, and scale operations seamlessly.
